We have come to the end of the 1st Conference on Dramaturgy for Children and Youth. We do so with the joy and enthusiasm of continuing to work in the fascinating field of performing arts for children and youth. Also influenced by the exciting and inspiring words of Suzanne Lebeau, who has been in charge of the Closing conference of the conferenceHer presentation was structured as an exciting review of her origins as a playwright and the motivations that have led her to work, defend and research in theatre for young audiences for over 40 years.
There has also been time for reflection on the role of the education and schools in its convergence with the performing arts. The professor Juan Pablo Heras, Montserrat Ismael from the Mercat de Les Flors and Judith Figuerola from FlipArt have talked with Cristina Garcia, member of the board of directors of Associació Professional de Teatre per a Tots els Públics – TTP around the role of educators and education policies in the performing arts.
After this, we put the period and followed a series of Playwriting Days for Children and Youth which, as all the attendees agreed, were the first of many to come, and the seed of relationships between playwrights and companies that will become stronger by working today, for the public of today: children and young people. After three intense days of Dramaturgy for Children and Youth (five for those attending the workshop with Suzanne Lebeau), we only have to say goodbye. Thank you all for making this dream possible.
