A fair that aims to serve as a platform for promoting children's and youth shows, supporting the programming of municipalities and festivals in Catalonia and the state, and fostering the internationalization of Catalan companies.
A fair with more than 30 years of history that has its origins in civil society
The first Theatre Showcase was born in Igualada in 1990, driven by the Rialles Movement of Catalonia (functional delegation of Òmnium Cultural), a non-profit entity founded in Terrassa in 1972 with the aim of forming local volunteer groups to organize and offer children's and youth shows to its population.
Except for the 1991 and 1992 editions, held in Terrassa and Sabadell, all took place in Igualada.
In 1995, around fifty of these volunteer groups, which spread to other municipalities in Catalonia, constituted the Xarxa Foundation, becoming, a year later, the main organizers of La Mostra d'Igualada.
In parallel, since 1996, Rialles has continued to hold the Mostra in Cerdanyola del Vallès, except for 2005 when it was held in Sabadell.
Finally, in 2006, by the will of the Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries (ICIC), with the support of the Ajuntament d'Igualada and the commitment of the Fundació Xarxa and the Agrupació Rialles, the two fairs (Igualada and Cerdanyola) were unified and born Igualada Showcase.
