Meeting with some of the leading creators of performing arts aimed at adolescents and confronting them with their audience, young people, in a debate open to dialogue and reflection.
On April 14, 2023, we brought together for the first time under the same space the main creators of performing arts aimed at adolescents in our country. The meeting was led by Eva Yergo and Ignacio Ceballos, two academic researchers, who sought to delve deeper into the processes of dramatic creation and its relationship with the enculturation of young people. It was a day that lasted between 10:00 and the 14:00 hours, which had as its main objective to generate knowledge, and that this could be made available to those people interested in this subject, in addition to serving as reference documentation to work on its visibility and assessment. With the purpose of generating a professional piece, the meeting was recorded with a team of three people and three cameras for its dissemination among the professional sector, and to vindicate the young public and its active participation in all the processes that affect them. In addition to the speakers, we had an active public that also had the opportunity to intervene in the final phase of the meeting, in a debate that was open to dialogue and reflection.
• Eva Llergo and Ignacio Ceballos as moderators of the meeting.
• Nando López is a novelist and playwright.
• David Peralto – TheYoung
• Lucía Miranda – The Cross Border Project
• Veronica Perez and Cristobal Suarez – Ventricle|Fast
• Nina Reglero – The Ship, a project by the Calderón Theatre in Valladolid
• Jesus Torres -The Aedo
All of these participants commented on their experiences, what their projects consist of, their points of view and the challenges they face in their professional work. We would like to highlight the presence of the IES Ítaca de Alcorcón, an institute that, along with the rest of the Baccalaureate modalities and several FP degrees, also offers a Baccalaureate of Plastic Arts within which the subject of Performing Arts has been growing since 2018, a subject of the Arts modality that goes to EvAU. From there, the students have been requesting the optional subject of Theatre or Performing Arts and Dance to the point of having grown in 5 courses from one to 5 groups. The course was invited to the meeting and was able to participate in the debate and ask questions to the speakers.
Meeting with some of the leading creators of performing arts aimed at adolescents and confronting them with their audience, young people, in a debate open to dialogue and reflection. In conjunction with other agents of cultural transmission such as the family, school, television or video games, the arts, and theatre in particular, consciously or unconsciously transmit cultural codes. In this process of enculturation, young people learn established ways of feeling, believing, thinking and acting; on stage they witness ethical and ideological approaches and normalised ways of living in society. To what extent creators and audiences are aware of these is one of the questions that underpin this reflection and that will encourage debate in the meeting between creators and their audience. We propose a space for meeting and reflection on creation aimed at adolescent audiences with the participation of prominent creators in an open dialogue in which we will also count on the participation of adolescents.
