Great men and women of theatre are often remembered for the innovations they have made in adult productions. However, those who work every day to make young spectators smile are rarely valued to the same extent. Luis Matilla, in addition to being an excellent playwright, is one of the pioneers in image education and animated theatre, as well as a reference in the performing arts for children both in Spain and abroad. In his work he promotes the creative participation of children, a theatre that is close to home that does not turn children into mere passive spectators. With this essay, the reader is invited to briefly learn about the work, the theses and the person of Luis Matilla; and is invited, in turn, to touch his theatre with his hands, since, as the author says, “if a child touches theatre with his hands, he has a lively and warm connection with the character and the actor.” Let us become children for a few moments and enjoy flying with our imagination.
