Public:
A team of performing arts professionals who create and produce theatre works and stage materials through the intersection of ideas and styles, the search for new dramaturgies and/or creative encounters with other groups or artists. With headquarters in the city of Madrid, we became a creative team in 2003 and in 2005 we acquired the legal and financial status of a Cultural Association. Since then, our work has been developed not only in the city of Madrid but also in theatres, festivals, competitions, exhibitions, cultural centres and public or private spaces in the rest of Spain, while at the same time we are projecting ourselves abroad. Over the years and through the experiences we have gained at the different stages of our work, LA CANTERA has become consolidated as a dynamic team that is open to regular collaboration in artistic, administrative and technical roles. Our proposals are not limited to a predetermined aesthetic or theatrical field, but are the natural consequence of the various artistic variables and the production mode with which each creative process is implemented. However, the results always have a common denominator: the acting work is put in the foreground without losing the importance of the word and the dramaturgical structures, as well as the plastic, energetic and sensorial development of the scene. To complement and provide feedback to our creative activity, we also configure ourselves as a pedagogical team and generate experiences for professionals and students in the sector. Most of them are oriented towards research into the art of acting, but we also offer work dynamics to promote dramatic texts and/or stage materials. As with our professional creations, in these activities we do not work with formulas or from a specific technique, but rather we emphasize the creation process and the qualities that each participant can contribute. It is not about proposing results a priori, but about finding a way of working through which we can reach genuine, personal, and unique aesthetics. A third area of work that has emerged with the development of the work itself and that is developed with the same parameters as the previous ones, is the one destined to create shows and give workshops for family audiences. Here, the theatre is offered as a recreational space where children develop their personal resources and are helped to face their daily lives from a positive perspective. In these areas, adults are partners in experience and active subjects who are given the opportunity to recover values and feelings.
