YVETTE HARDIE, PRESIDENT OF ASSITEJ

We live in a world torn apart by division and confrontation. Around us, everywhere, we find leaders and strategies with the objective of confronting people on the basis of race, language, culture, economic position, gender, sexual orientation, loyalty to an idea, belonging... If everything that makes us human was used by someone to create greater division and to build higher walls built over suspected hatred. From this success, apparently let us turn to the concept of Ubuntu, to the African ethic that declares: “They are because they are,” and “a person is a person through relationships with other people.”

What can we do to reverse this abysmal damage that we are causing to our children and, in fact, to ourselves?

Boys and girls need to be able to enjoy moments in communities where they are called or that we share and where they can appreciate the multiple realities of what it means to be human. They need spaces to explore new ways of thinking that challenge these confrontational narratives, that empathize with what is most different from them.
They need concrete experiences of communion, community, that inspire them with the joy and beauty that the world offers.

ASSITEJ understands that theater provides multiple avenues of access to a greater feeling of victory than anything else, and (more importantly) we know each other.

Recently, the New Victory Theater of Nova Iorque published the results of five years of studying the benefits of theater for children and young people. One of the most relevant and unexpected aspects is that exposure to theater offers these children greater hope for the future. The results were contrasted in a control group in which non-forums attended performances and performances in the same period and expressed a more pessimistic perception of their future possibilities in terms of study and work opportunities.

Why is hope so important? Hope produces positive energy that translates into confidence, strength of will, resistance and, finally, into concrete actions to make a difference in one's own life and in the world. Every child needs hope.

So, let's commit to bringing a child or child to the theater and gather the necessary support to ensure that all children have access to the arts and theater, regardless of their personal and social circumstances. And in the years that we have worked in the sector, let us commit to providing quality experiences that represent a change in the way the world is perceived by newer generations: let's do it for the current world and for the future.

MESSAGE FROM JOYEE: (8 YEARS OLD)

Everything is related to theater. Being born in a place or place or theater was very special. In India. And even though I was in an orphanage, I knew that theater was important there. My name is part of the theater. They are part of the theater. Fago House of Muchness, which is a type of theater... we put on shows. Things like that. All kids have the right to do fun things, like House of Muchness. I also like Bollywood because it's where I come from.

It's all theater. It's difficult to explain. I wouldn't try to explain it to someone who didn't understand, I would just take it, show it and that's how they would see it themselves.

Or theater is you. Everything you do is theater. Everything that surrounds it is theater. Ti is theater. Everything in your body works together as a theater. To put on a great show. And that show is your life.

Without theater there would be no imagination. People would not be happy if they were themselves. Without stories, everyone would always be bored. They would be a little sad, they wouldn't feel too good. It would be like lua. No one would be able to communicate with the other polos with big hats.

If you don't have your imagination... vaia, the only one who can fix this is the theater. Faiche learn things. I can learn things about love. As seen in different ways. And how different people who may not know can love each other... well, they can. If there is a really good story, it can really change us. The theater is special, it is beautiful and it is beautiful. We have to feel all the feelings: if a show makes us feel sad, it can also make us feel hope... that something can happen next. And this always happens.

MESSAGE FROM JOJO: (11 YEARS OLD)

I am 11 years old and dyslexic. They are a person who said some “expletives”. I want people to understand me how they are. I want to be part of something. They are a person who wants to change the world. I am part of the Non-Party of the Children, which brings political ideas into a theater show. I could start to change the world in this way.

O theater is important because it tells stories. The stories refer to people's exertions or what is happening. Where they come from, why they are here and what a fan here. Things we need to know. This way we can understand people eo que fai.

My first show was actually a music festival in Adelaide when I was in my belly. The first theater show that he created was an opera. Because Roger's turn is an opera singer. Roger was o meu avó.

Encantame o theater does not have to use imagination, your own imagination, which is different from two others. That's not because things are hard to see or aren't there, you just imagine them. Invent them. And then you can see clearly. But people may have a different story or images in their head compared to what's in my head.

If you don't take the children to the theater, the day or the theater will end. O theater shows lives, hearts and souls in action. If you took a child to the theater, a small child, I would not explain to him or tell him anything, no way. I would like him to see and explain later.

If they told me that I couldn't see more theater, it would make me sad, it would make me angry.

If you don't see some of the things that came in the theater, it wouldn't be eu.

And I like them the way they are.
