Carlos Bolaños (Alicante, October 24, 1974) has a PhD in Educational Research from the University of Alicante, after obtaining the grade of Outstanding Cum laude with his thesis "The theatrical concern of Juan Cervera and his corresponding pedagogical contribution to the Spanish school". Graduated in Dramatic Art, specializing in Textual Interpretation, from the Higher School of Dramatic Art of Murcia - obtaining the only outstanding grade of his class in the 4th year subject Interpretation IV, for his role as lawyer Gerald Morton in the final production of "Time and the Conways" by JB Priestley-, Postgraduate in Classical Theatre from the RESAD in Madrid and Teacher of Early Childhood Education from the CSEU La Salle (Autonomous University of Madrid).
His entire professional career has been linked to theatre and education since 1991. He discovered theatre at the institute with the help of the theatre director Mr. Antonio Díez Mediavilla, who directed him in his first leading role in the Cervantino interlude. And he is, at the same time, an active member of the theatre group of the Jorge Juan Alicante institute, the Aescena Company - Elisa Theatre, acting in productions by Molière, Darío Fo, Valle-Inclán and Carlo Goldoni, which are performed in numerous competitions and amateur and school theatre shows in the province of Alicante and the Valencian Community. In 1994, at the age of 19, he played Count Luigi in the children's programme I see, I see from Canal 37-Televisión de Alicante, broadcast daily, performing acting/presenting roles and becoming very popular among Alicante children.
He has worked professionally as an actor in theatre, television and advertising, with the award-winning Company The Machine Theater from Madrid (National Theatre Award 2010) in the staging Today is a holiday by Antonio Buero Vallejo, subsidized by the Madrid City Council and performed in various Cultural Centers in the capital and with actors of the stature of Amparo Baró, Javier Gutiérrez, Natalia Millán, Luis Merlo, Pepón Nieto, Pepa Aniorte and María León (in the series Central Hospital, Red Eagle, The Boarding School, Paco's men, Countdown, The Strip...), is selected to participate in the ING Direct bank television advertisement We have already nominated ourselves, which is broadcast nationwide on the main public and private channels and, for more than 20 years, has been a theatre trainer in the areas of Dramatic Expression and Body Expression with the Salesians of Alicante, Valencia and Madrid, as well as with various institutions and leisure schools.
He has been a founding member of the Amateur Theatre Companies The Traca Theatre from Alicante, Catarata Theatre from Madrid and Make Alicante Theatre and active member of the Companies: Elisa Theatre, with which he plays Juanín in the show Lentils directed by Pep Cortés and with which he acts as assistant director to Rafa Hernández in the editing Atomic Sex, participating in the XIII Exhibition of Spanish Theatre by Contemporary Authors, and Candilejas Theatre, in which he plays the young blind man Don Baker, from the endearing Butterflies are free Leonard Gershe, a role that he holds in special affection for due to the personal challenge it represented and the magnificent preparation he had with the ONCE Foundation. Both are also from Alicante.
In 1999, Bolaños received the Finalist Award for Best Leading Actor for his interpretation of the character Lucio Dorado in the play “El color del agua” (The color of water), by the Asturian Maxi Rodríguez, in the III National Amateur Theatre Competition Villa de Mora from Toledo -being one of the seven productions selected to participate among more than 100 shows from all over Spain-. This work is selected, on two different occasions, to be performed at the Teatro Arniches in Alicante, and also receives the First Prize at the II Youth Theatre Competition Center 14 of the Department of Youth of the City Council of Alicante and with it he travels around much of Spain. In 2000 he received the First Prize for the stage direction of the play "Les pretties ridiculas" by Molière, with his company The Traca Theatre, performed at the Teatro Principal in Alicante, within the local amateur theatre competition Alicante on stageIn 2004 he covered for the newspaper The truth from Alicante, the theatre review of the XVII Amateur Theatre Festival Alicante on stage and in 2006 and 2007 he was elected as a selection member of the Jury of the XV and XVI Theatrical Production Competitions City of Alicante, by the Municipal Board of Culture of Alicante.
To date, she has directed numerous theatre workshops for children, youth, adults and senior citizens, as well as school theatre performances with pupils in early childhood, primary and secondary education. She has also given and organised theatre courses, sessions and workshops for different groups in Day Centres, Town Halls, Cultural Centres, etc.
