In 2019, ASSITEJ Spain, together with ASSITEJ France and ASSITEJ Italy, launched the Migrants project. He project It aims to analyze the impact that the migration issue currently has on our society, as well as its reflection in the performing arts for young audiences.
ASSITEJ Spain developed a Catalog which hosted various shows dealing with the topic and was presented during the ASSITEJ 2019 Artistic Meeting in Kristinasand (Norway).
From ASSITEJ we formed a working group with the partners who wanted to be part of it and in the Artistic Encounter we present two proposals:
– Emotionarium: participatory action, created and developed by Jaume Belló and Enric Blasi, which reflected on the emotions that displaced people experience from the moment they leave until they arrive in an unknown country.
– Migrants Catalog: a publication that includes a series of national shows focused on this theme.
Seeing the great reception that the Catalogue proposed by ASSITEJ Spain received, in the following working meetings with ASSITEJ Italy and ASSITEJ France, it has been decided to expand it and turn it into a Web page global that includes artistic proposals from other countries, as well as performing arts projects that work with migrant populations through performing arts aimed at children and youth audiences.
We hope that the continuation of the project will be useful for reflecting on this topic, on how social issues influence artistic creation, and also on the role that art should play in relation to them.
