To promote access to the performing arts for children and young people, Aptent Teatro Accesible and ASSITEJ Spain are launching the Primera Escena accesible project, an initiative that seeks to expand the reach of shows and programming aimed at children and young people through specific accessibility measures. The project will run until June 2025, and proposes two key interventions:
Elaboration of a guide that compiles measures to develop the accessibility plan for productions aimed specifically at children and young people and that includes an accessible glossary of concepts. Through a process of listening to social entities and families, the project will fine-tune its content to meet the real needs of these children and young people with disabilities and their families.
Training for four companies in the creation of an accessibility plan for their productions. The selected companies will receive training in stage accessibility and will have specific advice on the implementation of resources such as subtitling, audio description, sign language, touch tours, relaxed performances and easy-to-read programs..
With this project, ASSITEJ and Teatro Accesible seek to create more inclusive performing arts spaces and promote a more accessible culture for children and young people.
