6th Edition of Contaria

Illusion is the last thing that should be lost, especially in the world of theatre and in the times we are living in.

As you all know, CONTARIA was born as a Fair in 2007 with a fantastic response from the professional sector and the public during its first four editions. Like all events related to the AAEE, since its creation it has been suffering from cutbacks and austerity policies that have led to the disappearance of well-established and necessary projects in our sector. Fortunately, CONTARIA has been able to adapt to the circumstances with great effort, determination and enthusiasm, and in 2011 it was reconverted into a Festival with the sole objective of keeping the project alive without ruling out, -from the organization and when the situation improves-, the recovery in future editions of its role as a Fair for professionals.

So, I would count begins a new edition transformed into a Festival with five weeks of programming, (sponsored by the INAEM, the VEO-Las Naves Foundation, the Valencia Provincial Council and the Sala Russafa), which has as its motto “Theatre of Illusions”From December 8 to January 4, at the Sala Russafa in Valencia, eight companies from four autonomous communities will offer a selection of shows that talk about dreams, stories and, ultimately, the dream world where children develop their imagination. A festival that is aware of the reality we live in and that is aimed at the young spectators who will be the future, for a sector as punished as that of the performing arts.
